Channel widening and meandering are very important phenomena in natural channel evolution, and play significant roles in the sediment balance in rivers. The CCHE1D model simulates channel widening by modeling the fluvial erosion at bank toes, and the consequent bank mass failures. The CCHE2D model can simulate channel widening and meandering by considering the effect of secondary flow on main flow and sediment movement. A feasibility study using a 3D model to simulate bed changes in a 180o channel bend has also been conducted.
